Hi folks

Hi folks, Here are the ten core questions I asked of Mark today: 1. Mark, I have you down in my G+ circles as a colleague. I note you have 290 followers. How have you managed to keep such a quiet profile amidst your incredible achievements? 2. You claim not to be a #glassexplorer  or at least not part of that online community. What do you call your developments then with #glass  or at least with the wider sub-sets of alternative providers? 3. I met with you at ISMAR13 in Adelaide, South Australia. Shortly after that event another occurred in the same university with Professor Andrew Goldsmith, Cybercrimes. What do you see as the nexus between augmented reality (AR) and that of unmanned aerial systems? (UAS) 4. Christchurch is a lovely part of the world. Given you've just returned from Israel what do you consider to be the hotbeds of technology development in the world at present? 5. What does the term privacy mean to you?  6. In a world of big data, open data and the ripples still

The number of civilian applications for UAVs continues to amaze us!

The number of civilian applications for UAVs continues to amaze us! This week we're talking Livestock. Hear it straight from PrecisionHawk COO Patrick Lohman as he dives into applications for the animal kingdom. “Some of the primary applications are being able to monitor where the livestock are on open range, using a thermal sensor you can detect the temperature of animals and DNRs (departments of natural resources) can use it to identify sick wild animals as well. For livestock insurance, it’s a good way to document what’s happening.” - Patrick Lohman http://goo.gl/HiwGDr

http://news.nationalgeographic.com/news/2014/03/140305-dolphins-video-megapod-superpod-california-captain-drone/ Great footage! Think about the cost of equipment, admin, resources if you used a standard helicopter hire set-up to capture this migration. Seems drones are a low cost research tool that could be part of a lot of science "tool kits". http://news.nationalgeographic.com/news/2014/03/140305-dolphins-video-megapod-superpod-california-captain-drone

The er-der moment might be about to happen, when we realise what the Open in MOOC meant, and was lost.

Originally shared by Leigh Blackall The er-der moment might be about to happen, when we realise what the Open in MOOC meant, and was lost. The depressing part though, is the single and only comment offered so far: "if the University pays someone to create the course, they own it". Good points and I agree.

Good points and I agree..... Below 700 ft is below the national air space and not subject to the same rules or laws specific to manned aircraft which is what the FAA is trying to use...... Same thing as trying to apply Telegraph law to the Internet.... Good analogy!
