This may be happening in more work places but it is the first time I have come across it.  A training organisation in Melbourne has engaged technology to watch, monitor and track it's small workforce.  All of this originally done without the knowledge of the employees.  Small cameras capturing video and audio have been placed in the office where the trainers do their work and the training rooms used.  Watching and listening to all that goes on.  Last year the employees were advised that they would be tracked via iphone when they were on, onsite training jobs, checking their movements as they are driving, checking on how many breaks and employee has and exactly what time and where employees are during the working day.  This is one workplace I would not want to be a part of.  Love to hear of the experiences of others.

  1. [ All of this originally done without the knowledge of the employees.] Now that is the concerning part - are we naming names here?

  2. It is of great concern that the employees were not consulted.  Would rather not name names but it is a small training company with only 6 employees, all of them now walking on egg shells about what they say and paranoid about being tracked constantly.  Maybe the next step will be to chip the employees.  Scary stuff.

  3. I think your getting your wired crossed on that one Jacinta - a substantial leap from sur to uber but definitely a quantum trajectory leap - we have to stick to facts and open ones...mostly :)
