wireless

Wireless connectivity.......what we need for speed. The thing is it is only the most minor part of the whole equation.

The bigger picture involves humans.....educators.....people determined to take things forward without compromising the most sacred parts of the learning equation. True.

A couple of days in Ungarie and I'm further of the opinion that we've got to give it to the farmers. The stock, lock and barrel of the greater good.

Wireless ? It was dead out there ....silent and golden . The most golden moments are those when it's silent.

....till Johnny cash kicks in.

The Always On Classrom : M2

Greg_Whitby

I wonder how long it will take for Greg to get back to me........

For those who think teaching is DEAD then get a hold on where Leigh Blackall's coming from these days.

Heaven forbid we say it never mind think it.

Better take this 'always-on' classroom a bit more seriously I think. I've been talking about it for long enough hey !!!!

Ungrouping the Groupies

Conrad Glogowski of FLNW fame has hit the nail on the head at his blog which I respoded to and then noticed like other WP blogs that it had chopped it in half.....hence the full version is located below as follows;

....again I'm wading my through the very nomenclature that clutters up our thoughts much like the re-re-revisitation or the latest flurry on groups, networks, classrooms and so on.... soooooo 2003.

The title itself of this post confuses me....."Against Grand NarrativesTo Ungroup a Class".......do a word count and make up your own mind whether it's grand or indeed another lengthy narrative.

Something more cogent and relevant I've latched onto...

> It seems to me, however, that helping them learn how to ungroup, how to function successfully as independent, creative, and confident agents is far more important. <

Agents ? Users ?

The firefight of the robotic semiotics will be more fierce than anything if we dont carefully tease out the use of such terminology in an educational pedagogy - lest we change our students into recipients of an ungrouped pRedagogy......emphasis on the 'r'.

I'd like to hear more Conrad of your learners ability to steer the odd learning crescendo enhanced by technology, reaching omniscence without the mediated dominant voice more often than not forged by the 'edu-mcator' themself.

What are your further thoughts on the use of mobile technologies in the classroom setting ? An always on lawnmower so to speak.......remember Freddy.....he's the kid with ADD we forgot in our efforts to group the rest.

:-)

Great blog. Great thoughts from a true genius - you.

Communities, Networks and Education

http://www.elearnspace.org/Articles/learning_communities.htm

Some good night time reading. I'll be responding to George's comments in my podcast as I think he's hitting on something I'd like to better articulate.....maverick till now apparently but needing synthesis.

Bloody Phones

Bright ideas for educators !

Some ideas for using mobile phones in education are over at teaching MrBelshaw . I traced my way back through the comments to Joe Dale's excellent blog which also contained links to 5/6th graders using phones as part of language learning .

Ah well.......never enough time to chase it further except now in extreme bursts or flights of fancy.

Pixelated but possible. I wonder whether they have a motorised version ?
